What is Code of Silence about?
This six-part crime drama introduces us to Alison Brookes, a smart and determined deaf women who’s spent years working in the police canteen, secretly observing conversations with her talent in lipreading. When exceptional skills capture the attention of DS Ashley Francis and DI James Marsh she’s recruited for an undercover operation!
As Alison dives deep into the case, her lip-reading skills prove to be crucial—until she meets Liam, a gang member who, like her, knows what it feels like to live on the outside looking in. Caught between personal ties, family pressures and moral dilemmas, she’s forced to navigate a dangerous underworld where every decision comes at a cost.
Who’s in Code of Silence?

Starring as Alison Brookes is the amazing Rose Ayling-Ellis. After launching her career as Frankie Lewis in EastEnders, she has gone onto become such a pioneer for the Deaf community with her Strictly Come Dancing performance of a silent dance completely changing the game and earning her 1st place. Oh and did we mention she also has a BAFTA?!
Starring alongside her will be:
- Kieron Moore (Vampire Academy) taking on the role of the intelligent and charming hacker Liam Barlow.
- Charlotte Ritchie (Fresh Meat, You, Ghosts) will play the emotional but grounded Detective Sergeant Ashleigh Francis.
- Andrew Buchan (Black Doves, Broadchurch, The Fixer) will play DI Hames Marsh.
