What is Yellowjackets about?
Yellowjackets follows a high school girls’ soccer team whose plane crashes deep in the Canadian wilderness in 1996, leaving them stranded for 19 months with no contact and no way home. What begins as a fight to survive quickly spirals as food runs out, fear takes over, and the group starts to fracture into rival factions, with strange rituals, power struggles, and increasingly dark choices blurring the line between survival and something far, far more disturbing.
The story unfolds across two timelines – their terrifying teenage experience in the wild, and their adult lives 25 years later. In the present day, the survivors are damaged, secretive, and trying to keep the past buried, until someone begins threatening to expose what really happened, forcing them to confront the consequences of what they really did to stay alive.
It’s gory, a little ridiculous at times, and definitely spooky. Expect blood, betrayal, cult energy, and twists that make you gasp, cringe, and immediately press “next episode.” If you love totally addictive drama then you are soooo in for a binge-fest!
Who’s in the cast of Yellowjackets?
- Melaine Lynskey (Don’t Look Up, Candy) stars as Shauna the emotional core of the series, hiding some huge secrets.
- Christina Ricci (Wednesday, The Addams Family) plays Misty, the rather unhinged chaotic character you will learn to love.
- Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers, From Dusk Till Dawn) plays Natalie, who’s raw, reckless and has a heartbreaking tale to tell.
- Tawny Cypress (Unforgettable) plays Taissa, an intense, ambitious and quietly terrifying character you won’t be forgetting any time soon!
And the teenage cast is juuuust as good:
- Sophie Néliss (The Book Thief) plays young Shauna.
- Sammie Hanratty (An American Girl: Chrissa Stands Strong) plays young Misty.
- Sophie Thatcher (Companian, The Bogeyman) plays young Natalie.
