A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

When Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend Rose (Allison Williams) go upstate to visit her traditionalist parents, Chris initially shrugs off their overly polite behaviour as a racially tinged awkwardness to do with his race. But as the weekend unfolds Chris uncovers far more unimaginable sinister truths. Jordan Peele's directing debut is a masterclass in fusing horror, satire and wit. If you loved M. Night Shyamalan's The Visit, the same "something doesn't feel quiiiiiiiite right" tension trembles and threatens to rupture in Get Out. Packed with sharp razor insight, you’ll be thinking about Get Out longgg after the screen goes dark.

Picture this: you've gone away for a beautiful and relaxed break in a remote cabin with your partner… when there's an unexpected knock at the door. The stuff of nightmares: two fathers (Jonathan Groff and Ben Aldridge) and their young daughter, are taken hostage by four strangers who insist that they must make devastating choices to prevent a world apocalypse.

The world of love wants no monsters in it.

When two outcasts, Lee (Timothee Chalamet) and Maren (Taylor Russell) drift through the backroads of America, their pasts have a habit of catching up with them, no matter how far they run. Half-love story half horror movie, Luca Guadagnino serves up on a platter a bewildering, bloody and tender story about the lengths people will go to feel loved.  Just a heads up, it's a lottttt to digest.

Fancy a film marathon this Friday 13th? You're in luck! BBC iPlayer has Scream 1, 2 andddd 3. If the slasher franchise has taught us anything, it's this: do not pick up the phone. This revolutionary series follows a group of friemds, all being picked off one by one by the very persistent Ghostface. And leading the charge is Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), the real MVP and ultimate final girl. This iconic film flipped the horror genre on its head due to its piercing meta humour and bending of tropes. Scream is an undeniable classic.

I hope your kids have bad influences and develop bad personalities. I wish this with all my heart.

Come on into a bleak, disturbing and strange world built by the legendary Yorgos Lanthimos (Poor Things, The Favourite). In this world, three nameless teenagers are trapped by their manipulative father in an isolated compound. They are strictly made to live in total accordance with their parents’ rules and face horrific consequences if they don't. It’s absurd, gripping and soooo compelling.

You're so frozen these days I can't even tell if you're sleeping or awake

James (Alexander Skarsgard) and girlfriend Em's (Cleopatra Coleman) sun-soaked luxury holiday takes a brutal and violent twist when mysterious Gabi (Mia Goth) takes them beyond the resort grounds. A tragic accident re-writes the legal system where punishment is simple: you die… unless you're rich, you can buy the right to witness your own execution. Hallucogenical-ly creepy, this is one for the watch list for sure.

A rumbling sound then 3 sharp knocks, ba-Ba-ba DOOK! DOOK! DOOK!

A grieving single mother and her son get increasingly paranoid when a creepy children's book mysteriously appears in their home. Dark and brooding, The Babadook is so much more than just about a shadowy monster who haunts a mother and her child. The Babadook is a layered exploration into how grief and loss lurks. Oozing with terror and nightmarish tension, Essie Davis and Noah Wiseman provide outstanding performances that leave this film lingering long after the credits roll.

An A24 film on Freely!? Count us innnn. Halina Rejin presents a fever dream of a whodunnit throwing a group rich, entitled, chronically online twenty-somethings into a family mansion for a weekend getaway. BUT, when someone suggests a murder-in the dark style game, things take a tragic bloody turn when bodies start popping up like notifications.  Bodies, Bodies, Bodies, is a super fresh take on the slasher genre, doubling as a scathing (and hilarious) look at Gen Z's online performance culture. Unhinged, bloody and buzzing, this one is an absolute riot.
