Why am I seeing a black screen on Freely?

A black screen usually means the TV or Streaming Device hasn’t started up correctly, or the signal between your equipment has temporarily stalled. This is normally quick to fix, you can fix this by resetting your TV or streaming device.

How to reset your TV or Streaming Device

Turn off your TV or Streaming Device using the standby button on your remote and restart it after 30 seconds. If the problem isn’t fixed, turn off your device and the power off at the wall, leaving it for about five minutes (get a cuppa while you wait!). When you turn the power back on, the device will reboot its software, usually sorting out the issue.

Will resetting my TV or streaming device delete my channels or settings?

No powering off your device won’t remove channels, recordings, favourites, or any personal settings. It’s simply a refresh of the system.

The standby cycle didn’t work, what should I try next?

Will this happen again?

It’s uncommon, but it can happen if a TV or Streaming Device doesn’t start properly. Resetting your device following the steps above should resolve the issue.
